Summer Vacation 2016

This summer we got a real treat when we left for vacation. We got up early Saturday morning and hopped on a plane and headed to Punta Cana, a place neither Will nor I had ever traveled to. Our group consisted of six adults and two kids. Traveling with kids freaks a lot of people out, but I swear to you that Dylan & Quincy are the best kids. So well behaved and just happy and fun to be around. I can't tell you how many compliments Beth got because her girls were so good. And as she should, she's a perfect example of a great mother. I take mental notes every time I'm around her watching her with her girls. We arrived in Punta Cana around 2 in the afternoon and quickly made it to the Hard Rock Resort. The resort is set up on  600 acres, the property is gigantic. So much to do. Our room was closer to the beach, but the Deans had a family suite close to the main attraction of the resort which consisted of five to six restaurants, a theatre, a casino and three or four different bars, along with numerous shops.

We changed into our swimming suits and headed to the beach. The beach has powdery white sand and clear turquoise water. The waves are so fun to jump and sometimes get knocked down by. We stuck around until the sun went down and man was the sky beautiful. Shades of pink, purple and blue, it was something you'd imagine it to be. Almost breathtaking. I always think of how great of an artist God is when I see a beautiful sky. I mean if you think about it, God puts up with all the craziness we hear and see in the world but still has the energy to get up in the morning and paint a beautiful sunrise and then later finds time to paint another gorgeous sunset in the evening. And there you have a snippet of how my thought process works. Beth & Geoff had taken the girls to get an early dinner and then get them in bed. We set on the beach and talked to my boss and his wife about everything, Will got to know them on a different level, a level that I feel I know them. My boss and I have a great relationship, we are open and honest about our past and have no shame of where we come from. I'll be the first to tell you I was poor growing up, I grew up with addicts & alcoholics but at the same time I have some of the best childhood memories and my childhood was filled with great family members and a ton of love. It made me who I am and I think it also helped motivate me in ways.  My boss and his wife opened up about how they grew up, how they became business owners, hard work and they really are just two of the most selfless and humble people I've ever met in my life. I think everyone should have a great relationship with their boss as I do mine but I know it's not the case so I try not to take it all for granted. I know I'm fortunate, I could not be more thankful for the people God has placed in my life. We ended the evening with dinner and then Will and I went and checked out the moon bar, it was weird, someone reaked of feet haha.

The following days were spent with morning workouts with ocean views, sipping fresh coconut water, playing on atvs, riding horses on the beach, swimming with sharks & stingrays, being kissed by a sea lion, jumping waves, reading a book while taking in the sunshine, good food, tasty drinks and little girl giggles. Our vacations with the Deans are nothing short of amazing. AMAZING, we are incredibly blessed, and I don't overuse that word so I can say that. BLESSED TO THE BONE! ;)

My favorite part(s) about the entire vacation were quite simple, the family feel that we were surrounded with the entire time we were there with the Deankins, and the part where Will and I took salsa lessons, we haven't laughed that hard together in a long time. His smile and laugh make me so happy inside.
